COLOR OF THE WEEK - NICKEL

periwinkle - one of my personal favorite colors of all time! a soft, light, cool-toned color that mixes a soft blue with a soft violet. it's a calming, refreshing, yet cheerful color. i think it's way under used in interiors... and fashion for that matter. in psychology the color promotes calmness, tranquility, and relaxation, reducing stress while boosting mental clarity and focus which makes it great for bedrooms or offices. it's seen as a whimsical yet gentle color. periwinkle fosters feelings of nostalgia, purity, and innocence, sparking imagination, creativity, and intuitive thoughts.
nickel, by benjamin moore, is a great choice when wanting to paint a room a gorgeous periwinkle! this sophisticated shade embodies understated elegance. it's soft, and the color is subtle. in a paint deck, it reads almost grey. but as with any color, the color becomes more noticeable and saturated when painted on a large surfacer - which is why it's always best to sample your color, so you can see just how saturated the color is.
below are a few examples of this beautiful paint color:

again, i highly recommend sampling your paint colors before applying them to the entire room. i order peel and stick samples from samplize. samples range $6.95 - $9.95 depending on the brand of paint and size of the sample. this may seem high, but it beats purchasing actual cans of paint and a paint brush. samples are usually delivered the following day. this business concept was such a brilliant idea - it's a life saver when you want to sample a lot of colors!!
hope you enjoyed this weeks color!! please subscribe for more color fun!!
